Hawaiian Turfgrass – Locally Owned
Hawaiian Turfgrass is a locally owned and operated sod farm
located in Mililani, Hawaii. We deliver to Honolulu, Oahu and outlying islands.
Hawaiian Turfgrass is managed by Sean Aukanaii Fong. Sean has a passion for preserving and sustaining the unique heritage of the Hawaiian landscape. He earned both a Bachelor of Science degree in Tropical Plant and Soil Science, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Hawaiian Studies, from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. The combination of these two degrees help Sean to serve his customers and the islands they call home.
Sean is a member of Landscape Industry Council of Hawaii (LICH), earning a Certified Landscape Technician (CLT) in Turf Maintenance. He is also is a member of the Hawaii Golf Course Superintendents Association (HGCSA) and a member of Turf
Producers International (TPI).
Sean lives in Mililani and grew up here in Hawaii.
The Hawaiian Turfgrass Mission
Our Mission over the next few years is to introduce to Hawaii a full line of
New Improved Certified Turfgrass Varieties that are on the cutting
edge of turfgrass technology and engineering. These varieties are
scientifically proven and University tested to outperform varieties
already commercially available here in Hawaii.
Our new Varieties will consistently provide reliable performance and exceptional value with superior growth habits, minimal water use and low fertility requirements.
Hawaiian Turfgrass understands that with this initiative comes great
responsibility and a tremendous commitment to excellence. Our pursuit to
produce superior quality grass in Hawaii mandates that our New Exclusive
Varieties can only be bought as Certified Turfgrass. This is to provide
assurance to our customers that our turfgrass sod and sprigs are true to
variety name and free from noxious weeds or off type plants, adhering to
Hawaii State Crop Improvement Associations regulations. This third party
oversight requirement is in place to ensure that established production
procedures are adhered to for the purpose of maintaining the genetic
integrity of the variety. Hawaiian Turfgrass is committed to following such
strict growing practices to give our customers peace of mind knowing
